Position Summary

Our company Digital is seeking an experienced Sr. Director Product Design responsible for driving innovative and groundbreaking user experiences across our core platforms, products and services. As Sr. Director you will guide the Design Teams to collaborate with fellow members of the Product, Engineering, Data, Business and Marketing Teams to conceptualize, design and develop vision and product roadmaps into usable, useful and delightful products and experiences. The Sr. Director reports to the VP of Product Design & UX to inspire members of your team and colleagues to develop and deliver award-winning products, interfaces and experiences people love.

 

Responsibilities:

• Develops team to identify complex business and/or customer problems, create innovative and intuitive design solutions, and strengthen knowledge and awareness of the larger ecosystem 

• Drives team growth and development to enable designers to define and execute UX, UI, and Visual designs for complex features to support and integrate a cohesive, multiplatform consumer experience; sets consistent interaction and visual design patterns across the product and continuously evolves style guide

• Leads and coaches design team; Identifies individual team members’ strengths and specialty areas and tailors execution and resourcing approach to achieve optimal solutions, results and deliverables 

• Identifies and communicates long term product/design strategy, reasoning, long term vision, and goals 

• Leads independently; thinks both tactically and strategically; influences both design team and cross functional leadership priorities 

• Adept at building trust and exerting influence across teams and business units; inspires peers and team to think differently about customers and the product 

• Manages product design roadmap and drives priorities 

• Manages complex project plans with multiple work streams and dependencies

• Understands and applies customer data and feedback to drive design decisions and deliver quality, data driven solutions driven by customer empathy; develops design strategy and solutions based on customer needs and is a role model for customer empathy 

• Drives the design system; sets and expands on existing modules, templates, and patterns for maximum optimization and efficiency; coordinates with Product and Engineering to enable all teams to deliver well 

• Drives best practices across the organization; defines team and cross-functional processes and mechanisms to operate at scale 

• Collaborates and partners extensively with Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and feasibility; extensive collaboration with executive leadership and stakeholders 

• Effectively communicates and collaborates with cross-functional teams and stakeholders; identifies others’ communication styles and tailors approach to achieve desired results

• Independently prepares and delivers presentations to cross-functional team members and stakeholders, including executive stakeholders 

• Drives design execution based on strong understanding of various platform technologies and best practices 

• Drives creation of prototypes of complex features and interactions of varying levels of fidelity, to validate ideas, communicate desired experience design and test usability

• Attracts, develops, and retains top product design talent

 

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience as Design Leader and/or Sr. Product Designer within a large-scale consumer facing organization, agency or multi-platform product company.

• 5+ years experience designing multi-platform apps and connected product experiences.

• BA Degree or higher in Product Design, Interactive Design, User Centric Design, HCI or Cognitive Psychology (OR) combined work experience with human factors training.

• Experience designing 10ft, VUI, Connected and Multi-Modal Product Design Systems required.

• Deep knowledge and experience in Mobile, Living Room & Connected Product Environments

• Expertise in Sketch, InVision Tools, Adobe Suite and rapid prototyping are required.

• Working experience with Principal, Story, and Atomic Design methods are important.

• Knowledge of emerging trends for digital products and cross-platform customer integrations.

• Experience managing high performance teams of 10 or more designers across internal and external teams – both direct and dotted line reports.

• Hands on experience with variety of user research techniques including user testing, personas, user tasks and scenarios, internal and external user interviews.

• Education in Interaction Design, HCI, UX Architecture, and/or Product Design required.

• Must have the legal right to work in the United State

• Hands on team player that can work easily with multiple stakeholders including Design, Product, Engineering, Data & Research, Project Management, Marketing, Business and Sales.

• Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and deadlines.

• Capable of leading Design Thinking & Design Sprint sessions to ensure that customer centered with clear vision is implemented through Design Thinking Best Practices.

• Proven track record with a variety of successful products delivered across multiple platforms, screens and ecosystems with experience in multiple brands, productions and operations.

• Passionate self-starter with high-level of initiative, strong sense of ownership and a disciplined approach to quality and its affect on the intended audience.

• Excellent oral and written skills, and able to present to small or large groups of people including Design, Marketing, Production, Product Teams, and Executive Stakeholders.

• Uncanny drive and passion to deliver the best experience for consumers and proven track record to deliver compelling, innovative and award-winning user and product experiences.

• High confidence working on complex multi-platform consumer focused product ecosystems.

• Consumer Electronics, Entertainment & Lifestyle Product experience are a BIG PLUSSES.

• Strong portfolio showcasing broad range of UX, IXD, Visual, and Design Process is a MUST.
