Mainframe Integration Engineer:

Opportunity:

Play key role in Mainframe Platform Transformation: The Mainframe Integration Engineering Team is responsible for the oversite, improvement and optimization of our Wealth Management Mainframe Plant. Our main services include; Performance & Analysis, Batch & Middleware Engineering, Test Data Management, Mainframe Infra Release oversight and planning, Application Release management L3 support, Standards and Compliance.

Position Description:

• Performance

o Identify performance tuning opportunities and provide recommendations;

 Identify long running Db2 Stored Procedures

 Identify optimization opportunities within the Batch/CICS/DB2

o Automate tooling in lower environments to proactively identify performance issues

o L3 support for performance tests / application consulting

• Incident management

o Identify patterns for proactive prevention

o Enable / assist in RCA

o Tooling to support in prod and lower environments

o Developer Automated problem identification

• Batch Integration

o Improve overnight batch performance by flattening spikes during peak processing windows

o Identify opportunities to shift left overall Batch Stream

o Execute on various hygiene efforts within the plant (i.e. Storage cleanup)

• Governance & Best Practices

o Build a transparent framework of Governance Controls, Standards and Best Practices

o Educate application development partners on best practices

o Collaborate with Release Management and SDLC Teams to implement toll-gates

• Architecture

o Look for opportunities to convert Batch Processing to Straight Thru Processing

o Distribute read traffic to off platform Read Only Stores (ROS)

• Enable Mainframe Agile / Dev Ops

o Integration of IDE with Vendor Tools in support of CI/CD pipeline

o Update the Source Control Manager/Process (SCM) from Changeman to IBM DBB/UCD

Qualifications:

• Proficient skills in one or more of the following:

o Cobol, CICS, JCL, DB2 SQL, REXX, MQ


• Good to Have -

o Job Scheduling – TWS, Autosys etc.

o Java, Python, .NET

o SQL Server

o Splunk

o Modern design principles

o Exposure to Agile methodologies

o Cloud Technologies


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office technologies

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field of study or equivalent relevant experience in mainframe programming.
