Naturopathic Physician – Primary Care

Puget Sound Area | Western Washington

A large community healthcare organization in the Puget Sound area of Western Washington is seeking a Naturopathic Physician to join its established primary care team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a physician who values a whole-person approach to healthcare and wants to combine evidence-based primary care with complementary and naturopathic medicine. The physician will work as part of a collaborative healthcare team focused on prevention, treatment, patient education, and improving long-term health outcomes.

The Opportunity

The Naturopathic Physician will diagnose, treat, and help prevent illness while providing comprehensive care within the organization’s primary care program. The position incorporates conventional primary care with naturopathic and complementary approaches based on each patient’s individual healthcare needs.

The physician will evaluate medical histories, examinations, diagnostic findings, and other clinical information to develop appropriate treatment plans. Care may incorporate nutritional medicine, therapeutic exercise, natural medicines, prescription medications, and other treatments within the physician’s applicable scope of practice.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide naturopathic and primary care services to a diverse patient population
  • Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and help prevent acute and chronic health conditions
  • Develop individualized treatment and preventive care plans
  • Educate patients regarding nutrition, therapeutic exercise, healthy behaviors, and disease prevention
  • Incorporate complementary and naturopathic treatments when clinically appropriate
  • Prescribe medications and other therapies within applicable scope of practice
  • Collaborate with pharmacy professionals regarding complementary pharmacologic treatments
  • Perform appropriate primary care and complementary medicine procedures within established privileges and competencies
  • Refer patients to specialists and other healthcare providers when appropriate
  • Educate patients about complementary healthcare and ongoing disease management
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, pharmacy professionals, and other members of the healthcare team
  • Mentor advanced practice clinicians as needed
  • Participate in after-hours coverage and call as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record

Qualifications

  • Active Naturopathic Physician (ND) license OR active MD/DO license in Washington State, as applicable
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible preferred, as applicable
  • Active DEA registration/certification, as applicable
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
