We Are Hiring a Vice President of Dental Care!
Our Integrated Health Center seeks a dynamic, experienced, and mission-driven Vice President of Dental Care to join our Senior Leadership Team!
Our team provides outpatient primary medical, dental, and behavioral health care to underserved patients throughout Central and Eastern Washington and Northwestern Oregon. We are looking for someone experienced in oral health leadership and operations who is passionate about clinical excellence. This unique role consists of 80% administrative leadership and 20% clinical care, ensuring the highest standards of oral health care across our clinic system. We are looking for someone who has demonstrated tenure in their previous roles, possesses executive acumen, and enjoys motivating team members to their highest potential.

Administrative/Leadership (0.8 FTE):

Leadership and Management: Oversee dental operations, mentor and support dental staff, and contribute to strategic planning and policy development.

Staff Supervision: Supervise, mentor, and train staff; manage performance; conduct evaluations; set goals; address performance issues; and participate in disciplinary actions.

Staff Development: Support staff development, recruitment, and orientation while fostering an inclusive and engaging work environment.

Care Coordination: Develop dental care plans, coordinate with other departments, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide leadership to achieve strategic goals.

Quality Assurance: Oversee budget, quality assurance, and promote cultural competence.

Community Engagement: Act as a liaison within the organization and community, support dental education and public health programs, and prepare for and participate in state, federal, and Joint Commission (TJC) audits.

Representation: Actively participate in the community, establish and maintain productive relationships with community partners, and represent the organization on outside boards, committees, managed care organizations, forums, and meetings, supporting decisions on behalf of the Chief Health Officer (CHO) and the organization.

Travel: Travel is required to fulfill corporate needs and attend necessary meetings to represent the corporation and/or the Dental Department.
Clinical (0.2 FTE):

Patient Care: Provide high-quality dental care to patients, ensuring adherence to best practices and clinical guidelines. Perform all phases of direct dental care, including extractions, restorations, and prosthetics. Conduct patient examinations to assess oral health, capture detailed exam information, and formulate treatment plans based on patients’ financial situations and physical needs. Diagnose and treat pathological conditions, prescribe medications, and maintain accurate Electronic Dental Record (EDR) documentation.

Community and Project Work: Work on community oral health and clinic projects as assigned by the Chief Health Officer (CHO), ensuring quality control techniques are utilized. Assist in the evaluation of Dental Providers, Dental Assistants, and support staff.

Education and Mentorship: Serves as dental residency faculty, mentoring residents in Washington clinics. Serves as “Affiliate in Practice” faculty, mentoring dental students during their clinical rotations.

Clinical Oversight: Clinical duties will be a float opportunity in operational counties, allowing the provider to become familiar with all of our practices. Oversees clinic operations for all clinics in Washington and Oregon.

Qualifications:
- Completion of a DDS or DMD degree program from an accredited dental school
- Possess or be able to obtain a valid dental license in Washington or Oregon
- Demonstrate proven experience in both oral health leadership and clinical dentistry roles
- Have demonstrated a strong commitment to serving underserved and inclusive populations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess or be able to obtain a valid dental license in Washington AND Oregon
- Experience in supervision and mentoring of D4 dental students
- Experience in supervision and mentoring of dental residents
- Experience serving underserved and inclusive patient populations
