Overview
A Sales Director is responsible for leading and scaling a company’s sales function. They set strategy, manage high-performing teams, drive revenue growth, and ensure consistent execution across the sales pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute the overall sales strategy aligned with business goals
- Set revenue targets, forecasts, and KPIs
- Identify new market opportunities and growth channels
2. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and scale a team of sales managers and representatives
- Hire, onboard, and develop top-performing sales talent
- Create a high-performance, accountable sales culture
3. Revenue & Pipeline Management
- Own pipeline health, forecasting accuracy, and conversion rates
- Monitor performance metrics and adjust strategy accordingly
- Ensure consistent deal progression and close rates
4. Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build relationships with key clients and strategic accounts
- Partner with marketing, product, and leadership teams
- Represent the business in high-level negotiations
5. Process & Performance Optimisation
- Implement and optimise sales processes, tools, and CRM usage
- Drive adoption of best practices and automation
- Analyse data to improve efficiency and win rates
Key Requirements
Experience
- 7–12+ years in sales, with 3–5+ years in leadership roles
- Proven track record of hitting or exceeding revenue targets
- Experience managing teams and scaling sales operations
Skills
- Strong leadership and coaching ability
- Strategic thinking with hands-on execution
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Data-driven mindset (forecasting, reporting, pipeline analysis)
Preferred
- Experience in SaaS, recruitment, or high-growth environments

Typical Salary (Australia)
- Base: AUD $150K – $220K
