Responsibilities:
- The Permit Coordinator supports the team by managing the permitting process for residential projects.
- This role ensures that all necessary permits are secured in a timely manner, coordinating with internal departments, consultants, engineers, and local government agencies. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of municipal permitting procedures.
What you will do:
- Coordinate the preparation, submission, tracking, and receipt of development-related permits (e.g., grading, utility, right-of-way, building, environmental).
- Serve as the primary liaison between the company and local, county, and state regulatory agencies for permitting matters.
- Monitor and manage permit timelines to ensure construction schedules are maintained.
- Work with civil engineers, consultants, and project managers to compile and review required documentation for submittals.
- Maintain an accurate database or tracking system of all permitting activities, including submittal dates, expiration dates, fees, and agency contacts.
- Assist in resolving permit-related issues, including revisions, resubmittals, and appeals when necessary.
- Coordinate with utility companies and municipalities for service applications, approvals, and connections.
- Ensure compliance with jurisdictional regulations and company policies throughout the permitting process.
- Participate in project status meetings to provide permitting updates and flag potential delays or bottlenecks.
What you will need:
- 2+ years of experience in land permitting roles.
- Familiarity with local and state permitting processes related to land development.
- Ability to interpret civil/site plans and permitting requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with public agencies and cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with project tracking software is a plus.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Urban Planning, or a related field preferred/not required.
- Knowledge of environmental permitting, zoning processes, or utility coordination.
