Responsibilities:
- The CAD Technician supports the team by preparing detailed design and construction drawings for residential projects.
- This role is critical in transforming conceptual designs and survey data into technical plans used for permitting and development.
- The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, and has a strong understanding of site development and utility layout standards.
What you will do:
- Prepare and revise site development drawings, including grading, drainage, utility plans, erosion control, and street layout for residential subdivisions.
- Generate construction documents from engineering markups and design standards.
- Create exhibits, maps, and presentations for internal teams and municipal submittals.
- Maintain drawing accuracy and compliance with applicable codes, design criteria, and jurisdictional requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and surveyors to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
- Support the preparation of permit submittals and coordinate with agencies as needed.
- Organize and manage digital drawing files, maintaining version control and data integrity.
- Update drawings based on redlines and field revisions.
- Assist in the coordination of utility company plans, city requirements, and developer standards.
What you will need:
- 2+ years of CAD drafting experience, preferably in land development or civil/site design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.
- Understanding of grading, utilities, roads, and stormwater design for residential projects.
- Ability to read and interpret civil engineering plans, surveys, and construction documents.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency in drawings.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification in drafting or related field preferred.
- Experience with GIS, Bluebeam, or other design tools.
- Familiarity with local codes, permitting processes, and jurisdictional submittals.
- Knowledge of subdivision layout, infrastructure phasing, and site construction sequencing.
