The CNC Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing CNC and PLC-controlled machinery. This role requires expertise in both mechanical and electrical systems, including the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics to ensure optimal machine performance and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair CNC and manual machines, PLC systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Perform maintenance on electrical systems, including A/C and D/C motors, drives, and control circuits.
- Interpret and utilize mechanical drawings and electrical schematics to identify and resolve equipment issues.
- Conduct inspections of electrical systems, wiring, and components to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Develop and execute maintenance plans to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Perform electrical repairs from high-voltage systems (up to 480V) to component-level troubleshooting.
- Install and maintain electrical wiring and conduits for machinery and other equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.
- Provide recommendations for equipment upgrades or replacements to enhance performance and safety.
- Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Qualifications
- 7-10 years of experience troubleshooting and maintaining CNC machines with live tooling.
- Hands-on experience with CNC equipment such as Haas, Doosan, and/or Mazak preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in general industrial maintenance and electrical repair.
- Associate degree in Electrical Technology or equivalent technical training.
- Military electrical training (e.g., Naval or Air Force) is a plus.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office and ERP systems is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and stretching.
