Job Overview
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring product quality, reliability, and compliance with industry standards by developing and implementing quality assurance processes. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive root-cause problem solving, continuous improvement, and best practices in manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee quality aspects of production projects through development, build, and testing phases.
- Analyze data, perform root-cause investigations, and maintain accurate project documentation.
- Define test requirements, acceptance criteria, and inspection standards.
- Manage inspection data, reporting, and performance metrics for quality control.
- Collaborate with engineering to capture and process design changes.
- Develop and update work instructions to align with ISO 9001 standards.
- Conduct internal quality audits and present findings.
- Lead and document corrective and preventive actions (A3/8D).
- Provide supplier quality support, including inspection, analysis, and corrective actions.
- Partner with continuous improvement teams to reduce quality costs and improve process capability.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Associate degree with equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience
- 7–10 years in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments.
- 5+ years in a quality-focused role preferred.
- Experience with electrical, hydraulic, or mechanical systems a plus.
Preferred Certifications & Skills
- ASQ CQE or Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, CMM reporting, and inspection methods.
- Proficient in quality tools, data analysis, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Knowledge of fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly operations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to train others.
- Strong project management and continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
