A growing food manufacturing company is seeking an Engineering & Maintenance Manager to lead plant maintenance operations and engineering initiatives within a fast-paced production environment. This role is responsible for driving equipment reliability, leading capital projects, and supporting overall operational performance.

This is a highly hands-on leadership role. The right candidate will spend significant time on the plant floor working alongside the team, not sitting behind a desk.


Responsibilities

  • Lead daily maintenance operations to ensure equipment reliability and plant uptime
  • Manage and develop a team of 3 Supervisors and 6 Technicians
  • Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs across all equipment and facility systems
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and drive root cause analysis to eliminate downtime
  • Partner with operations and quality teams to support production goals
  • Lead CapEx projects including equipment installs, upgrades, and facility improvements
  • Manage maintenance budget including labor, parts, and project costs
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on OEE, efficiency, and cost reduction
  • Ensure compliance with safety, food safety, and regulatory standards (OSHA, FDA, USDA, GMP)
  • Support utilities and infrastructure including refrigeration, boilers, compressors, and HVAC systems


Qualifications

  • 8+ years of maintenance experience within food manufacturing or a related processing environment
  • Minimum 3–5 years of leadership experience managing maintenance teams
  • Strong background in preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Experience with capital projects, equipment installation, and facility upgrades
  • Working knowledge of industrial utilities systems (refrigeration, boilers, compressed air, etc.)
  • Understanding of regulatory standards including OSHA, FDA, USDA, GMP, and HACCP
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills


Additional Details

  • This role is approximately 50% maintenance leadership and 50% engineering/project work
  • Candidates must be comfortable in a hands-on environment with regular floor presence
