An established public accounting and advisory firm is seeking a Tax Senior Manager to join its San Francisco office. This leadership role offers the opportunity to serve as a trusted advisor to a diverse client base while overseeing complex engagements and mentoring a growing team of tax professionals.


The Senior Manager will play a strategic role within the practice, partnering closely with firm leadership on client service, team development, and business growth initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead advisor on complex tax engagements across a variety of client industries
  • Provide advanced technical review of tax returns, financial statements, and related workpapers
  • Identify tax planning opportunities, risk areas, and strategic solutions for clients
  • Act as primary relationship manager for key clients, addressing technical and business matters proactively
  • Oversee engagement planning, budgeting, billing, and realization metrics
  • Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring quality and timely delivery
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop Managers, Seniors, and Staff
  • Participate in performance evaluations and team development initiatives
  • Contribute to internal process improvements and quality control standards
  • Support practice growth through client development efforts, proposal participation, and cross-service collaboration
  • Stay current on regulatory and technical developments impacting client engagements


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
  • Approximately 8+ years of public accounting experience
  • Active CPA license required
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex client engagements independently
  • Experience reviewing advanced tax returns and leading final engagement reviews
  • Strong business development and client relationship management skills
  • Ability to manage engagement economics including budgeting and realization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with modern tax and engagement management software
  • Ability to travel occasionally based on client needs


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $150,000 – $200,000
