Our client, a leading nonprofit real estate developer and property manager, is seeking a Temporary Development Accountant to provide interim coverage during multiple maternity leaves and assist with year-end audit preparation. This is a great opportunity for a strong Property or Project Accountant who enjoys full-cycle accounting and wants to gain more exposure to the development side of real estate.
What You’ll Do
- Manage full-cycle accounting for ~10 active development projects and lease-up properties
- Prepare construction draws and handle job costing, budget vs. actuals, and reconciliations
- Support month-end close, audit preparation, and cost certification reviews
- Partner closely with project managers and finance leaders to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Assist with process documentation and system updates (RealPage and Excel)
Who They’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience (property, development, or construction)
- Solid understanding of job costing and construction draw processes
- Proficiency with RealPage, Yardi, or similar systems
- Strong Excel and communication skills
- (Preferred) Experience with affordable housing or LIHTC accounting; CPA or audit background
