Senior Accountant

Real Estate Investment & Development | Walnut Creek, CA

An exciting opportunity to join a Real Estate Investment and Development company as it enters its next stage of growth. With a strong portfolio, significant capital resources, and several new institutional partnerships, the organization is expanding its platform and continuing to build the infrastructure and team needed for its future.

The company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Walnut Creek finance and accounting team. This is a hands-on role with exposure across a diversified real estate portfolio and the opportunity to work closely with senior finance leadership.

For someone looking beyond the traditional Senior Accountant path, there is meaningful room to grow as the organization expands and evolves.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage day-to-day accounting for assigned real estate entities and properties.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Own general ledger activity, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Support property-level and corporate accounting across a portfolio that includes multifamily and other real estate investments.
  • Assist with investor and management reporting and ensure accurate, timely financial information.
  • Partner with the Director of Finance and broader team on month-end and year-end close.
  • Support budgeting, cash management, and financial analysis as needed.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, external partners, auditors, and tax providers.
  • Help strengthen accounting processes and reporting as the organization continues to institutionalize its platform.
  • Take on increasing responsibility as the company and finance team grow.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong foundation in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close.
  • Real estate accounting experience strongly preferred; multifamily experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining highly collaborative team environment.
  • Comfortable operating in an environment that is growing, evolving, and continuing to build processes.
  • Strong communication skills and the judgment to work effectively with colleagues across levels.
  • Team-first approach with a willingness to roll up your sleeves when needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience with the Intuit Suite, Yardi, and/or Juniper Square is helpful but not required.

The Opportunity

This organization combines the financial stability and track record of a long-standing real estate company with the energy of a business entering a new chapter. Its investor base is evolving from historically private capital relationships to include a growing number of institutional partners, creating an opportunity for the accounting and finance team to evolve alongside it.

The leadership team is approachable, hands-on, and committed to developing its people. This position is particularly compelling for someone who wants to be close to the business, gain broader exposure, and have the opportunity to grow into greater responsibility over time.

Location

The team currently works primarily from Walnut Creek approximately four days per week. Candidates should also be comfortable traveling to San Francisco for meetings as needed. As the organization grows, its longer-term Bay Area office footprint may evolve, so flexibility between Walnut Creek and San Francisco is important.

Compensation

$110K–$135K Base + Bonus potential.

This compensation range is a good faith estimate of the expected wage range you can expect to be paid upon hire.
