Staff Accountant

Overview:
A fast-growing international company that operates premium hospitality and customer experience locations within major airports across the U.S., U.K., and Middle East is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its Controllership team. The company focuses on enhancing the traveler experience through comfortable lounges, digital convenience services, and other guest-focused amenities.
This position will play a key role in supporting general accounting operations, maintaining financial accuracy, and ensuring compliance with reporting and audit requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to grow within a dynamic, fast-paced organization.
Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day accounting functions, including supplier invoice coding, revenue reporting, account reconciliations, and support for month-end and year-end close activities. This position also assists with sales tax, property tax, and audit compliance, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial data across multiple business entities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately code and process supplier invoices in accordance with company policies and chart of accounts, supporting effective financial management across all entities.
- Record and reconcile monthly point-of-sale (POS) revenue and associated fees.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual sales reports for revenue, rent calculations, and sales tax filings.
- Manage property tax filings for all U.S. locations in the company’s portfolio.
- Maintain and monitor tracking systems for reimbursable costs to ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Perform month-end, quarterly, and year-end close procedures, preparing reports and schedules for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Support annual audit activities by preparing PBC schedules, reconciling data, and responding to auditor inquiries in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders across multiple time zones, ensuring transparency and accuracy in financial updates.
- Contribute to departmental projects and company initiatives as assigned.
- Deliver excellent internal and external customer service while maintaining professionalism and accuracy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and procedures, including general ledger, financial reporting, and audit processes.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in coding, reporting, and reconciliations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and discrepancies.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion and integrity.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis).
- Self-starter with initiative to work independently and collaboratively.
- 1–3 years of prior experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar accounting role.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
