Junior Accountant (On-Site – North Dallas, TX)
Position Overview
A well-established private investment and asset management office in Dallas is seeking a Junior Accountant to join its accounting team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to gain exposure to a sophisticated financial environment that includes multiple entities, investments, trusts, and foundations. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Junior Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, and administrative functions. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, organized, and eager to build a long-term career in accounting and finance.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Process accounts payable, ensuring invoices are properly reviewed, approved, and paid on a timely basis
- Prepare cash transfers and maintain supporting documentation
- Reconcile bank accounts, investment accounts, and other financial records
- Record and track fixed asset purchases, transfers, disposals, and depreciation schedules
- Maintain accounting schedules and supporting documentation for various entities
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes
Reporting & Analysis
- Compile financial reports and accounting schedules
- Research and trace accounting transactions to supporting documentation
- Review financial information for completeness and accuracy
- Assist in preparing audit schedules and tax workpapers for external accountants and auditors
Administrative Support
- Organize, scan, and electronically file accounting and financial records
- Maintain accurate and well-organized documentation
- Assist with special projects, ad hoc reporting, and other accounting-related assignments as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 2-4 years of accounting, bookkeeping, audit, or related experience
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and data analysis
- Knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion
Preferred Experience
- Experience with bank reconciliations and accounts payable
- Exposure to investment accounting, trusts, foundations, or multi-entity environments is a plus
- Experience supporting external audits and tax preparation processes
