Temporary FOIA Request Specialist
City Government – South Dallas, TX
Overview:
A local city government located just south of Dallas is seeking an experienced professional to assist with processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. This is an immediate and ongoing temporary need. All work is performed onsite at the city’s offices. Candidates must be able to pass a background check and be available to start right away.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, review, and process incoming FOIA requests in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Coordinate with city departments to collect, review, and release requested records.
- Ensure sensitive and confidential information is properly redacted before release.
- Track, log, and maintain accurate records of all FOIA requests and responses.
- Draft and prepare response letters and supporting documentation.
- Provide guidance to requestors on FOIA processes and timelines.
- Assist with special projects or administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience handling FOIA or Open Records requests required.
- Background as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Legal Administrator strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of records management, confidentiality, and document review.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to work onsite full-time and manage multiple requests under strict deadlines.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
