Scope of Position
Our Client is seeking an experienced, results-driven Plant Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our packaging and container manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for driving operational performance across safety, quality, production, customer service, and cost management while ensuring efficient use of equipment, materials, and personnel.
The Plant Manager will lead cross-functional teams, implement operational excellence initiatives, and ensure the plant consistently meets production targets, customer requirements, and financial goals.
Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations to ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery commitments are achieved.
- Manage plant resources, including personnel, equipment, materials, and production schedules, to maximize operational efficiency.
- Oversee production planning processes to ensure customer demand is met and plant capacity is optimized.
- Partner with Sales and Customer Service teams to align production capabilities with customer requirements.
Safety & Quality
- Champion a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Lead plant safety programs, including training, audits, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives by addressing customer or internal complaints and implementing corrective actions.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits and lead continuous improvement efforts to maintain quality standards.
Financial & Performance Management
- Monitor and review plant operating statements to ensure departments operate within established budgets.
- Identify opportunities for cost reductions and process improvements across the manufacturing operation.
- Participate in monthly, quarterly, and year-end inventory processes in accordance with corporate guidelines.
Continuous Improvement & Strategic Planning
- Implement Operational Excellence initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen to improve productivity and reduce waste.
- Develop and execute plant-level strategic and tactical plans aligned with company goals.
- Lead capital improvement projects, including new equipment installations and mold development initiatives.
Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, train, develop, and lead plant supervisors and staff to achieve operational objectives.
- Foster a collaborative and team-oriented environment that promotes accountability and employee engagement.
- Encourage open communication and teamwork across departments.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in packaging, plastics, or container production environments.
- Experience leading plant teams and managing cross-functional operations in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies preferred.
