Scope of the Position
The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational excellence, and financial performance of a high-complexity manufacturing facility operating 24/7 with a workforce of 150+ employees. This role provides strategic and day-to-day leadership across manufacturing, quality, engineering, logistics, environmental health & safety (EH&S), and facilities. The Plant Manager serves as the primary interface with internal customers and senior leadership while fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and accountability.
Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead and oversee all plant functions, including manufacturing, quality, engineering, logistics, EH&S, and facilities.
- Establish and execute site-level strategies aligned with business objectives and internal customer requirements.
- Ensure uninterrupted 24/7 operations while maintaining high standards of performance and efficiency.
People & Culture
- Lead, develop, and inspire a diverse workforce of 150+ employees in a high-complexity environment.
- Build a high-performance culture that promotes teamwork, accountability, engagement, and individual excellence.
- Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, from hourly plant staff to senior leadership.
Safety & Compliance
- Champion a world-class safety culture by developing, implementing, and sustaining effective EH&S programs and processes.
- Ensure full compliance with all local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
- Proactively identify and mitigate operational, safety, and environmental risks.
Financial & Strategic Management
- Own the annual operating plan, budgets, and resource allocation to achieve production, cost, and profitability targets.
- Support internal customer groups to deliver finished products that meet quality, service, and customer expectations while achieving EBITA goals.
- Direct site capital planning, capital expenditures, and investment projects to support strategic operational objectives.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive Lean Manufacturing execution and process-based continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement focused on waste reduction, productivity, quality enhancement, and cost optimization.
- Leverage data and performance metrics to identify opportunities and track results.
Qualifications & Experience
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 7–10 years of experience in manufacturing operations, including management and supervisory roles; equivalent experience may be considered.
Skills & Competencies
- Proven track record of manufacturing leadership and operational excellence.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, analyze performance, and drive profitability.
- Demonstrated success in implementing and sustaining Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Effective leadership, communication, and people management skills.
- Clear understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements related to manufacturing operations.
