Maintenance Mechanic – 2nd Shift

Scope of Position

Our client is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic (2nd Shift) to join our team. In this role, you will perform maintenance, repair, fabrication, and assembly of machine components and production equipment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, precision, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment to support efficient plant operations.

This position requires the ability to work from blueprints, sketches, specifications, and verbal instructions to fabricate or repair machine parts while maintaining high standards for safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, maintain, and repair machine parts using equipment such as lathes, vertical milling machines, drill presses, hydraulic presses, and other tool room machinery
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on machinery and equipment
• Accurately measure and verify work using precision measuring instruments
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, models, and other technical instructions
• Collaborate with engineering, supervision, and union personnel to resolve equipment issues
• Assist with tasks across other skilled trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and tool & die work
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce downtime, and increase operational efficiency
• Follow all safety procedures and quality standards

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of machining tools, materials, methods, and standard practices
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment and production machinery
• Familiarity with shop safety practices and hazard prevention
• Ability to visualize parts and equipment from sketches, drawings, or verbal instructions
• Comfortable working from blueprints and technical diagrams
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to work safely and maintain close attention to detail
