Scope of Position


The General Manager is responsible for overseeing, directing, and coordinating all business and manufacturing operations. This role is fully accountable for the site’s financial performance and responsible for driving profitability through revenue growth, operational efficiency, and disciplined cost management.


The General Manager develops and executes long-term strategic initiatives to support sustainable business growth and operational excellence. This role partners closely with Corporate Accounting to manage budgets, inventory, and financial performance, and collaborates with Corporate Human Resources to establish and implement effective policies, procedures, and workforce strategies. The General Manager also works closely with Executive Leadership to define and execute key organizational priorities.


Responsibilities


Business & Financial Leadership

  • Maintains full responsibility and accountability for the site Profit & Loss (P&L).
  • Drives profitability through revenue growth, operational improvement, and effective cost management.
  • Reviews and evaluates sales performance, operational activities, and expenditures against budget and forecast to measure progress toward financial objectives.
  • Oversees departmental budgets and ensures expenses remain within approved constraints.
  • Partners with Corporate Accounting to manage financial planning, inventory controls, and reporting accuracy.

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Leads the development and execution of both short- and long-term business strategies.
  • Develops and implements strategic initiatives to support company growth and operational performance.
  • Collaborates with Executive Management to align site-level objectives with corporate strategic goals.
  • Monitors business performance and adjusts priorities, goals, and operational plans based on market conditions and company performance.

Sales, Marketing & Business Development Oversight

  • Oversees Business Development and Marketing to ensure effective development and execution of strategic sales plans.
  • Leads forecasting activities and establishes performance goals to support growth targets.
  • Oversees contract negotiations and execution of client agreements.
  • Reviews market trends and competitive analyses to evaluate customer needs and pricing strategies.

Operational Excellence, Quality & Safety

  • Ensures compliance with all Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) requirements and promotes a culture of safety across the organization.
  • Partners with site EH&S leadership to ensure safety policies and objectives are consistently followed.
  • Drives adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS) and leads continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen quality performance.

Human Resources & Policy Administration

  • Collaborates with Corporate Human Resources to define, refine, and implement organizational policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment regulations.
  • Evaluates industry trends and best practices to strengthen workplace processes and employee engagement.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support organizational success.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and direction to all department heads, including Sales & Marketing, Engineering & Maintenance, Production, Customer Service, Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs, EH&S, Warehousing, Accounting, and Human Resources.
  • Ensures performance expectations are clearly defined and consistently met across all functional areas.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and developing employees.
  • Oversees work planning and assignment, performance evaluation, recognition, discipline, and resolution of employee concerns.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Chemistry or Engineering preferred).
  • MBA preferred.
  • Eight to ten (8–10) years of related leadership experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial operations.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver strong business results.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Creative, flexible, and innovative leadership approach.
  • Proficiency in modern business tools and software, including Microsoft Excel, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and related platforms.
