Scope of Position


The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs across the company's plant and distribution center locations. This role provides expertise in environmental and safety compliance, training, risk management, industrial hygiene, and program development. The EHS Manager may also support additional locations as needed and is accountable for maintaining food safety and quality practices required through SQF standards.


Responsibilities


  • Lead the implementation of the company’s internal EHS management system at the site.
  • Coordinate site-wide EHS strategies, budgets, and programs, including personnel safety, regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, sustainability initiatives, loss control, reporting, training, and regulatory liaison activities.
  • Develop measurable EHS KPIs and support plant initiatives to drive attainment of objectives through leadership, communication, and employee feedback.
  • Provide tools and guidance to production staff and management for identifying hazardous conditions and practices; develop hazard control programs that reduce risk.
  • Assist line supervisors with accident investigations and ensure timely follow-up and corrective actions.
  • Oversee the site’s workers’ compensation program.
  • Plan and manage industrial hygiene services.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to develop and implement accident-prevention plans.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the site safety committees.
  • Serve as the site’s representative when interacting with government agencies on environmental, safety, and health matters.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of site environmental and safety training; maintain required documentation and records.
  • Own the incident management process, including accident reporting, corrective actions, workers’ compensation claims, return-to-work coordination, and OSHA recordkeeping.
  • Partner with the Plant Manager to develop and execute the plant’s EHS operational plan.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health Management or related field.
  • Minimum five years of EHS management experience in a manufacturing environment; multi-site experience preferred.
  • Key areas of experience include program development, training, safety audits, behavioral safety, and ergonomics.
  • Workers’ compensation and OSHA recordkeeping experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple programs and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively across all levels of employees and leadership as part of the Plant Leadership Team.
  • Ability to influence processes and people without direct authority.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
