Operations and Maintenance Site Manager

Job Description Summary:

We (a globally active solar and BESS EPC/O&M) seek an experienced Operations and Maintenance Site Manager with a valid Florida Electrical Contractor (EC) or Certified Solar Contractor (CVC) License to support the operations and maintenance (O&M) activities of a growing portfolio of utility-scale solar facilities in Florida.

This role will oversee maintenance planning, contractor management, scheduling, field execution, and operational readiness activities related to long-term plant operations (O&M). 

 

Position Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Ensure the site, generating plants and all personnel maintain the highest safety standards and practices.
  • Operate and care for company property, equipment, and tooling. 
  • Perform and oversee solar equipment testing, troubleshooting and maintenance tasks in alignment with monitoring programs and contractual requirements. 
  • Supervise the replacement or repair of solar facility parts and/or equipment. 
  • Respond “on‐call” as necessary to manage emergency equipment repairs. 
  • Oversee completion of electrical and other maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, permits, and project requirements.
  • Participate in and work with the EPC team on commissioning activities and turnover to operations.
  • Oversee day-to-day O&M activities across multiple solar facilities, including supervision of subcontractors and field personnel.
  • Coordinate, schedule and document preventive and corrective maintenance activities, aligning with customer expectations and contractual requirements.
  • Arrange and oversee O&M expenditures, budgets, providing supporting invoicing and cost analyses.
  • Support permitting and electrical compliance activities where/when required.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of electrical and operational issues.
  • Maintain project documentation (internal and external), maintenance records, and reporting.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering, commissioning, and operations teams, including the remote monitoring of the facility.
  • Participate in site inspections, safety meetings, and operational reviews.
  • Assess and suggest improved processes, collaborate on new technologies, and coordinate with management regarding the implementation of these improvements.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements, Skills, Certifications or Experience: 

  • EC and/or CVC licensed in the State of Florida.
  • Located within a commutable distance from the project site (Lake Placid, Florida), or willingness to relocate to the area.
  • A driver’s license valid in the State of Florida (note that a driving, background, criminal survey will be part of the hiring process).
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or equivalent, Vocational/Technical School or Bachelor studies a plus. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a mechanical/electrical environment achieved through formal training or previous work experience. 
  • Demonstrated basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems. 
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and perform effective Lock Out/Tag Out of energized parts/systems. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of solar installation/plant and electrical systems. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of testing equipment  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of remote monitoring systems.
  • Computer skills: outlook, MS Teams, MS Word, MS Excel. 
  • Ability to follow and give both verbal and written instructions. 
  • Have or obtain NFPA 70e Safety Training certification. 
  • Remain current in all safety and technical trainings. 
  • Effective verbal and written English language communication skills. 
  • Effective organizational skills. 
  • Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather). 
  • Ability to work on an “on call” basis (may include weekends or after-hours situations).
  • Experience coordinating field crews, subcontractors, and maintenance schedules.
  • Managing budgets, purchasing and invoicing procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and organizational skills.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Utility-scale solar PV experience (50MW+ preferred).
  • Experience managing the interface between commissioning and operational activities.
  • Familiarity with medium-voltage systems and inverter-based generation facilities.
  • Experience working with clients, EPC contractors, utilities, and original equipment manufacturers.

 

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions: 

  • Occasional exposure to weather, harsh outdoor environment, vibration, noise dust and fumes.
  • Requires frequent stooping/bending/crouching, reaching, handling, finger dexterity, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting 50 lbs. or more. 
  • Occasional climbing and carrying, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working in high, exposed, or difficult to access places. 

 

What We Offer:

  • Base Salary: US $90,000 – $110,000 based on experience.
  • Eligibility for company bonus plan (10%).
  • $800 / month stipend for health coverage.
  • Participation in company matched 401K plan, once established (est. Sept 2026).
