Job Title: Solar Technician – Utility-Scale PV Systems

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Solar Technician to support the operations and maintenance of utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) projects. This role involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, and ensuring optimal performance of large-scale solar installations. The ideal candidate will have experience with high-voltage systems, inverters, and data acquisition systems, and will be committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.​


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on utility-scale solar PV systems, including modules, inverters, transformers, and monitoring equipment.​
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and mechanical issues to minimize downtime and maximize energy production.​
  • Monitor system performance using SCADA and other data acquisition systems; identify and address performance anomalies.​
  • Conduct testing and analysis of electrical systems, including insulation resistance, continuity, and grounding tests.​
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), and ensure compliance with OSHA and NFPA 70E standards.​
  • Document maintenance activities, test results, and equipment status in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).​
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to implement system upgrades and improvements.​
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts and tools; coordinate with procurement for replenishment as needed.​
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency maintenance requests outside of regular working hours.​


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; associate degree or technical certification in electrical, mechanical, or renewable energy technology preferred.​
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in solar PV system maintenance, with a focus on utility-scale installations.​
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical manuals.​
  • Experience with medium-voltage (MV) electrical systems and components.​
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and data analysis tools.​
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in the renewable energy industry.​
  • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions; physical capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.​
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to remote project sites as required.​



Preferred Qualifications

  • NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certification or equivalent.​
  • OSHA 30-hour General Industry certification.​
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).​
  • Knowledge of battery energy storage systems (BESS) integration with solar PV.​
  • First Aid/CPR certification.​
