Wind Resource Manager – Renewable Energy
We are seeking a Wind Resource Manager to lead the assessment, analysis, and optimization of wind energy projects. This role is responsible for evaluating wind resource potential, conducting energy yield assessments, and supporting project development through data-driven insights. The ideal candidate will have expertise in wind measurement campaigns, atmospheric modeling, and turbine siting to maximize energy production and project feasibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Wind Resource Assessment:
- Design and oversee wind measurement campaigns, including meteorological tower and LiDAR deployments.
- Analyze wind data to assess energy yield potential and optimize turbine placement.
- Conduct wake modeling, turbulence analysis, and loss estimates to refine project designs.
- Turbine Siting & Layout Optimization:
- Utilize industry software (e.g., WindPRO, OpenWind, WAsP) to model and optimize turbine layouts.
- Evaluate terrain, environmental constraints, and permitting requirements to maximize site efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure turbine selection aligns with site conditions.
- Energy Yield & Uncertainty Analysis:
- Develop bankable energy production estimates for project financing and investment decisions.
- Conduct uncertainty analysis and risk assessments to enhance forecasting accuracy.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal teams, investors, and regulatory agencies.
- Permitting & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Support environmental impact assessments by providing wind resource and noise analysis.
- Work with regulatory bodies and stakeholders to ensure compliance with permitting requirements.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to project developers, engineers, and decision-makers.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Atmospheric Science, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in wind resource assessment, site evaluation, or related fields.
- Proficiency in wind modeling software (WindPRO, OpenWind, WAsP, or similar).
- Strong data analysis skills, with experience in Python, MATLAB, or other programming tools (preferred).
- Understanding of IEC standards, permitting processes, and power purchase agreements.
- Ability to interpret GIS data and work with mapping tools (ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
