Field Service Technician – Solar Energy Industry


About the Role

Our client is seeking a reliable and motivated Field Service Technician to assist with the construction, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of photovoltaic (PV) systems. This hands-on role focuses on performing essential on-site tasks to ensure optimal system functionality and performance across utility, commercial, and industrial solar projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of PV systems under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Perform on-site inspections and basic troubleshooting of PV system components.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and system performance checks.
  • Assist in the assembly, wiring, and mounting of system components (DC/AC wiring, inverters, racking systems).
  • Maintain accurate logs of site visits, maintenance work, and issues encountered.
  • Ensure work is completed in compliance with applicable safety standards and best practices.
  • Participate in training sessions to build knowledge in PV systems and quality control procedures.
  • Travel to project sites (up to 30%) for on-site support.


Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience or training in PV system installation and maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of solar construction terminology and practices.
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 20kg (approx. 50 lbs).
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and follow directions.
  • Familiarity with NEC and other relevant safety codes is a plus.


Preferred Skills and IT Proficiency

  • Exposure to solar installation software or monitoring tools.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience using mobile apps for documenting fieldwork is a plus.


Language Requirements

  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required.
