About the Opportunity


A well-established independent renewable energy owner and operator is seeking a Lead Wind Technician to support operations and maintenance at an operating utility-scale wind facility in Alberta.

This role combines hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance with day-to-day leadership of site technicians. The successful candidate will help drive safety, equipment reliability, operational performance, and team accountability while working closely with the Site Supervisor.

Responsibilities


  • Lead daily work activities for site technicians.
  • Promote a strong safety culture.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbines.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Diagnose equipment issues using SCADA and electrical schematics.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Support maintenance of collector systems and other balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Complete work orders, maintenance reports, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed.
  • Occasionally support other renewable energy facilities.

Preferred qualifications include:


  • Wind industry experience with owner/operators or major service providers.
  • Mechanical or electrical trade certification, technical diploma, or wind technician education.
  • Cold-climate operating experience is highly desirable.
