Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and strategic Project Developer to lead the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects across North America. This role is ideal for someone who understands how to navigate complex development processes—balancing regulatory, environmental, financial, and technical considerations to bring clean energy projects from concept to reality.

The Project Developer will play a critical role in site identification, permitting, interconnection, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional coordination to advance projects to Notice to Proceed (NTP) or financial close.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead utility-scale solar, wind, and storage project development from site origination through NTP or acquisition
  • Identify and evaluate new project opportunities through land acquisition, market analysis, and transmission capacity screening
  • Secure site control through landowner outreach and negotiation of leases or purchase agreements
  • Manage permitting efforts at local, state, and federal levels, including environmental impact reviews and community engagement
  • Coordinate interconnection applications, engineering studies, and stakeholder meetings with utilities and ISOs/RTOs
  • Build and maintain project schedules, track key milestones, and communicate progress to internal teams and external partners
  • Oversee third-party consultants performing studies related to environmental permitting, wetlands, cultural resources, and more
  • Collaborate with internal finance, engineering, legal, and policy teams to assess project feasibility and de-risk early-stage opportunities
  • Support preparation of RFP responses, off-take proposals, and M&A diligence materials
  • Maintain strong industry awareness of renewable energy markets, regulations, policies, and incentive programs
  • Represent the company at public hearings, local permitting meetings, and community events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Studies, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a focus on utility-scale solar, wind, or battery storage
  • Strong understanding of land acquisition, permitting, and interconnection processes
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with GIS tools and basic knowledge of resource modeling or site screening software is a plus
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to analyze market trends and regulatory frameworks across U.S. regions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with project management software preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 25–40% based on project site and stakeholder meeting needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with RTOs/ISOs (e.g., PJM, ERCOT, MISO, CAISO)
  • Background in community engagement or public affairs related to infrastructure projects
  • Understanding of renewable energy project financial modeling inputs
  • Experience supporting power marketing or PPA negotiations
