Title – Design Electrical Engineer

With a team of dedicated employees, we engineer, procure, construct, operate, and maintain utility-scale photovoltaic systems in Canada and the USA.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Design Electrical Engineer based out of our Calgary, AB office.
Responsibilities:
- Develop engineering for utility-scale PV generating facilities including equipment layouts, single-line diagrams, AC/DC collector layout, cable sizing, trench/suspended cable system definitions, and quantity take-offs.
- Create detailed engineering drawings (AutoCAD) and reports under supervision of senior engineers.
- Develop models in PVsyst for energy production estimates and create reports.
- Support research and selection of equipment including regular communication with vendors, specifications and quotation review, and technical and economical analysis of alternatives.
- Contribute to continuous development and improvement of electrical design principles and calculation procedures/templates, including software evaluation and code reviews.
- Provide technical support to supervise and manage subcontractors and consultants for the execution of detailed engineering or construction services.
- Provide technical support for the procurement of electrical equipment (cables, combiner boxes, inverters, transformers, etc.).
- Provide technical support and timely communication to construction teams during execution.
- Provide technical support related to inspection, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Manage creation of redlines and as-built drawings/reports during construction, including onsite inspections.
- Support creation of close-out packages for project completion.
- Maintain accurate and updated file databases online throughout project execution.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
- Working knowledge of Canadian and USA electrical codes.
- Experienced AutoCAD user.
- Ability to create accurate engineering drawings and reports.
- Ability to correctly review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and electrical studies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage confidently with field teams, vendors, and engineers.
- Organized, proactive, and able to manage shifting priorities across multiple sites.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel to project sites in Canada and the USA.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Electrical engineering experience in the wind or solar power generation sector.
- Experience with PVsyst and PV Case software.
- Professional Engineering License (P.Eng.) or on path to receiving this license.
Work Schedule & Location:
The base hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs.
This position is office-based and requires in-person presence during core working hours. Hybrid arrangements (minimum 4 days per week in office) may be available after the probation period.
Travel across Canada and the USA may be required from time to time as needed.
