Our client is seeking a Director of National Distribution to increase premium production across its small commercial insurance portfolio. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this individual will develop productive retail and wholesale broker relationships, activate existing partners, and generate new business across specialty commercial products. This is a production and distribution role—not a binding underwriting position—and requires enough underwriting fluency to earn credibility with brokers and internal insurance teams.

Responsibilities

• Generate meaningful new business premium by expanding existing broker relationships and developing new retail and wholesale distribution partnerships.
• Use submission, conversion, and premium data to identify underperforming relationships, prioritize opportunities, and execute targeted growth plans.
• Serve as the link between brokers and internal underwriting, product, marketing, and technology teams, translating appetite into effective broker education and resolving barriers to production.

Qualifications

• At least five years of small commercial insurance experience in production underwriting, business development, agency management, or a closely related distribution role.
• Demonstrated success producing several million dollars of incremental premium through broker development, relationship expansion, or new-partner activation.
• Strong commercial underwriting fluency, established broker relationships, comfort with technology and production data, and willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time.
