Our client, an underwriting-driven, tech-enabled MGA platform, is seeking an entrepreneurial specialty underwriter to build and lead a new program. The ideal candidate combines strong team orientation with a proven track record of cross-cycle underwriting profitability, a meaningful distribution edge, the fire in the belly to build something new, and a willingness to embrace technology to drive efficiency and value across the underwriting value chain.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of program creation, including defining underwriting strategy, establishing carrier and distribution relationships, and executing go-to-market plans.
• Drive consistent, cross-cycle underwriting performance through disciplined risk selection, pricing rigor, and adaptability to market conditions.
• Build and manage a high-performing underwriting team, fostering strong broker and carrier partnerships and leveraging technology to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• 10–20 years of P&C underwriting experience in specialty lines, E&S, or program business, with a proven record of building and growing profitable portfolios.
• Demonstrated leadership experience and a strong distribution network with the ability to originate and sustain business flow.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort in a fast-moving environment; strong technical credibility, communication skills, and fluency with technology and data tools.
