Position Overview
The Director of Finance is a strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing the financial health of the company. You will drive forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and business performance analysis across all functions. This role requires a strong grasp of fulfillment and logistics economics, including variable cost modeling, margin optimization, and capital planning across warehouse and transportation operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Leadership
- Partner with executive leadership to guide strategic decisions through financial modeling and data-driven insights
- Lead annual budgeting, monthly variance reporting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes
- Own company-wide financial KPIs and performance dashboards
- Operational Finance & Fulfillment Economics
- Analyze fulfillment cost drivers (labor, warehouse throughput, shipping rates, packaging, etc.) to identify efficiency and margin improvement opportunities
- Develop pricing and margin models for customer contracts
- Oversee cost allocations for multi-node distribution and 3PL service delivery
- Accounting Oversight & Financial Controls
- Own the Finance and Accounting function for the organization, overseeing all aspects of accounting operations, reporting and analysis.
- Manage the month-end close, financial package, revenue recognition, and compliance with GAAP.
- Ensure strong internal controls and process improvements across financial workflows
- Team Management
- Build and lead a high-performing accounting and finance team
- Foster a culture of accountability, agility, and continuous improvement
- Investor & Board Support
- Prepare board materials and capital planning scenarios
- Support financial narratives
Qualifications
- 8–12+ years of progressive experience in finance, with 3+ years in a leadership role
- Industry experience in logistics, e-commerce, SaaS, or tech-enabled services strongly preferred
- Strong command of fulfillment economics and cost modeling
- Proven ability to drive business impact through financial analysis and operational partnership
- Experience with ERP and financial planning tools
- CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred but not required
