Director of Sales and Operations

As the Director of Sales and Operations you will provide strategic leadership and direction for all transportation services. Your focus will be successfully managing client relationships, meeting, or exceeding client expectations, and working to ensure effective operational solutions and service improvements. The Director of Sales and Operations will lead a team of individuals responsible for utilizing analytical and operational expertise to 1) partner with sales leadership to drive strategic goals, 2) increase understanding of drivers that influence sales performance and 3) ensure timely implementation of required operational processes for optimum business planning.

 

This position is a critical function, working closely with the Sales, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure seamless go-to-market and beyond.

 

You will be responsible for sales planning, strategy, operations and analytics. This is a highly strategic and visible role in which you will have a high degree of autonomy and outsized impact. This position is part of the broader Business Operations team.

 

What you will drive:

Sales Strategy & Execution:

  • Define strategy and execution for new market entry

Sales Analytics:

  • Streamline sales data and definitions across channels to improve our reporting
  • Create KPIs and dashboards for various audiences (i.e., sales team
  • Build and own sales forecasting across channels

Sales Systems:

  • Evaluate quality and scalability of current sales systems and where appropriate, implement new systems
  • Maintain our CRM

Sales Process:

  • Bring rigor and organization to the weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales meetings and reports
  • Create and document our sales processes, and train/onboard team members
  • Cross-functional projects
  • Work on streamlining pricing across channels

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Familiarity with sales & marketing (CRM, marketing automation tools etc.)

Position Description

  • Oversees the sales and operations for the region. You are tasked with increasing sales, thereby solidifying our business's position in the market. You will be supervising the department and ensuring that its goals are aligned with the overall business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years or more of experience in a key reporting and analytical role (strongly preferred in Sales Operations)
  • Four years (4) years or more of experience managing others/leading teams
  • Analytical thought process to discover problems and suggest best way to solve them
  • Business acumen to understand management perspective and anticipate questions
  • Excellent communication skills to succinctly convey the results of the analysis
  • Presenting to executives preferred. 
  • Strong knowledge of reporting and visualization tools
  • Work closely with field sales leadership to understand reporting requirements to drive revenue growth
  • Proactively produce additional leading metrics that would point out areas where salespeople and their managers need to focus to increase chance of success in obtaining new customers and retaining existing ones
  • Train and manage direct reports
  • Provide insight into sales trends to optimize performance of our sales force
  • Assist in the process of defining new Sales Operations procedures and refining existing ones.
  • Keep tight control of procedures, reports and analysis around pipeline management

Responsibilities:

  • Be a vital player for the Team.
  • Responsible for leading all activities associated with the efficient operation of accounts assigned.
  • Manage the performance of salaried employees as well as hourly paid employees under his/her responsibility, resolve performance issues, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and customers to determine their needs and expectations and operate the account to meet those demands.
  • Be responsible for the payroll of employees.
  • Analyze weekly and monthly financial statements to determine account profitability and provide financial data and weekly operations reporting to senior leadership.
  • Be aware of and involved with accounts payable, vendor quotes for purchased materials, and customer invoicing.
  • Hold Safety meetings, provide safety training and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must be available to work on a flexible schedule on the various work shifts.
