Overview

We’re seeking an experienced Data Warehouse Administrator with strong Greenplum expertise to support enterprise-scale data warehouse systems. This position will be instrumental in maintaining database performance, reliability, and scalability, partnering closely with engineering, operations, and analytics teams across a multi-state organization.

You’ll join a modern IT environment focused on operational excellence, continuous improvement, and the evolution of enterprise data platforms. Our team is distributed across the U.S. and abroad, combining full-time staff and consulting professionals dedicated to delivering high-quality, high-availability solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Configure, install, and maintain Greenplum database environments to ensure optimal reliability, scalability, and security.
• Perform proactive performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization for large datasets and complex workloads.
• Develop and maintain documentation, including database dictionaries, architectural diagrams, and operational runbooks.
• Partner with development and analytics teams to enhance query performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and improve data flow.
• Design and implement disaster recovery and replication strategies, including backup validation and restoration processes.
• Enforce standards for database administration, configuration, and security compliance.
• Identify opportunities to automate and streamline operational workflows.
• Evaluate emerging database and infrastructure technologies to enhance system performance and resiliency.
• Support upgrades, patches, and continuous improvements within the enterprise data ecosystem.
• Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule to support mission-critical systems.

What You Bring

• 4+ years of hands-on experience administering Greenplum databases, with deep knowledge of query tuning and performance optimization.
• Expertise using Greenplum utilities such as MADlib, PXF, GPCC, gpfdist, gpload, gpbackup/gprestore, and gpdr backup/restore.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience supporting large-scale data warehouse environments.
• Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python, and comfort working in Linux/UNIX (RHEL) systems.
• Familiarity with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
• Experience with ETL tools such as IBM DataStage or comparable solutions.
• Cloud knowledge across AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
• Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working with Databricks and Spark for distributed data processing preferred.
• A mindset for automation, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Location

This position offers flexible work options — fully remote anywhere in the United States, or onsite/hybrid at our client's facilities in Salt Lake City, Utah
