KēSTA I.T. is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager for an exciting full-time opportunity with our industry-leading client.

The Opportunity


The Software Engineering Manager will report directly to the VP of Application Development & Software Solutions and will provide strategic, technical, and people leadership for a large software engineering and quality assurance organization.


This leader will be responsible for guiding multiple concurrent software initiatives from planning and solution design through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering experience with demonstrated success leading people, developing high-performing teams, and delivering enterprise-scale technology solutions.


This is a fully in-office leadership position requiring strong collaboration with engineering teams, technology leadership, business stakeholders, and other organizational partners.

The successful candidate will bring a strong technical foundation, sound architectural judgment, excellent communication skills, and a passion for developing people and creating a culture of engineering excellence.


What You'll Do

  • Lead and manage a large team of software engineers and QA professionals, providing direction, coaching, mentorship, and ongoing development.
  • Oversee software engineering delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives, ensuring projects are completed within established scope, quality, timeline, and business expectations.
  • Develop and maintain a high-performing engineering organization through effective hiring, onboarding, performance management, career development, and succession planning.
  • Coach and mentor engineering leaders and individual contributors, helping team members strengthen their technical, professional, and leadership capabilities.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance across the software development lifecycle, including solution design, architecture, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Partner with the VP of Application Development & Software Solutions and other technology leaders to establish engineering strategies, priorities, standards, and roadmaps.
  • Contribute to architecture and technical decision-making while ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Establish and promote modern software development practices, engineering standards, development methodologies, code quality practices, and DevOps principles.
  • Drive adoption and effective use of cloud-native architectures, modern development tools, automation, CI/CD, and enterprise software platforms.
  • Work closely with QA leadership and teams to establish strong quality practices and ensure software is delivered with a high level of reliability and performance.
  • Monitor team capacity, resource allocation, delivery schedules, and competing priorities across multiple initiatives.
  • Identify and address delivery risks, technical debt, resource constraints, and organizational challenges before they impact business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with product, project, business, infrastructure, security, and other technology teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Communicate project status, technical risks, resource needs, priorities, and delivery progress to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, innovation, and engineering excellence.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, software engineering practices, and industry trends and evaluate opportunities to improve engineering effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8–10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in software engineering leadership or people management.
  • Proven experience leading a software engineering team and managing delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching engineers, building high-performing teams, and managing employee performance and career development.
  • Strong technical background with experience contributing to solution design, software architecture, and technical decision-making.
  • Experience leading software development through the full software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with cloud-native architectures, modern software development practices, and enterprise software platforms.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering methodologies, development standards, testing practices, version control, CI/CD, and DevOps principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance technical leadership with effective people and organizational management.
  • Strong project prioritization, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with engineers, technical leaders, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fully in-office environment and foster strong collaboration across a large technical organization.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading large or geographically distributed software engineering organizations.
  • Experience managing both software engineering and QA/testing functions.
  • Experience working within complex enterprise technology environments.
  • Experience with modern cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum or other modern software development methodologies.
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and cloud-native application development.
  • Experience managing managers or other engineering leadership personnel.
  • Experience participating in enterprise technology transformation, application modernization, or large-scale software development initiatives.
