Job Description:
We Are Seeking a Senior Full Stack .NET Developer to help lead the modernization of a large-scale, mission-critical enterprise application. This role will be instrumental in transforming a legacy ASP.NET environment into a modern technology platform built around .NET 8+, RESTful APIs, Azure cloud services, SQL Server, and React. This is a hands-on software engineering position focused primarily on application modernization, architecture, development, and technical delivery rather than routine maintenance. The Senior Full Stack .NET Developer will contribute to architectural decisions, develop modern application services, build user-facing functionality, integrate cloud services, and establish solutions that are secure, scalable, maintainable, and designed for long-term sustainability.
Responsibilities:
· Lead and contribute to the modernization of legacy ASP.NET applications by transitioning functionality to current .NET architectures and Azure-based cloud solutions.
· Design, develop, and implement secure, scalable, high-performing application solutions that reduce technical debt and improve long-term maintainability.
· Evaluate existing application architecture and identify opportunities to improve reliability, performance, scalability, and supportability.
· Design, develop, and maintain API-first services and RESTful APIs that support internal and external systems.
· Develop cloud-native functionality using Azure App Services, Azure Functions, and related Azure technologies.
· Participate in technical architecture and design discussions and contribute to decisions affecting application modernization and long-term platform strategy.
· Take ownership of solutions throughout the complete software development lifecycle, including technical design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and operational support.
· Manage and enhance SQL Server environments supporting enterprise applications, including stored procedures, T-SQL development, query optimization, performance tuning, schema migrations, and data cleanup.
· Support data architecture and database modernization efforts associated with application transformation initiatives.
· Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps to automate application testing, deployment, and release management.
· Develop and maintain React-based user interface components within an existing enterprise application.
· Apply modern frontend development principles, including an understanding of client-side rendering, server-side rendering, component-based architectures, and contemporary frontend frameworks.
· Integrate internal APIs, third-party services, and enterprise systems using secure, reliable, and maintainable integration patterns.
· Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation for application and system integrations.
· Develop and maintain reporting solutions using SSRS and Power BI.
· Participate in emerging AI initiatives, including Azure Agentic AI services, Copilot capabilities, chatbot integrations, and other AI-enabled application functionality where appropriate.
· Write clean, readable, maintainable code that can be effectively understood and supported by other developers.
· Develop and execute appropriate testing strategies to ensure application quality, stability, and reliable releases.
· Independently diagnose application and production issues and perform root-cause analysis to identify and address underlying problems.
· Provide operational support when needed and maintain ownership of technical issues through resolution.
· Participate in architecture reviews, peer code reviews, sprint ceremonies, and other Agile development activities.
· Create and maintain technical specifications, application documentation, deployment procedures, runbooks, and user-facing guidance.
· Collaborate with developers, architects, business stakeholders, and other project participants to translate business and technical requirements into effective solutions.
· Ensure application solutions appropriately address security, accessibility, compliance, auditability, and sensitive-data considerations.
· Apply modern software engineering practices to improve development quality, automation, application performance, and overall engineering efficiency.
· Take initiative in identifying technical challenges and opportunities for improvement rather than relying solely on predefined tasks or detailed direction.
Required Skills
· 8+ years of professional .NET development experience.
· Strong hands-on experience with C#, ASP.NET MVC, and Web API.
· 5+ years of hands-on experience modernizing legacy ASP.NET applications to modern .NET versions, including .NET 6, 7, 8, or later.
· Demonstrated experience completing real-world application modernization projects rather than limited exposure through prototypes or proof-of-concept projects.
· 5+ years of production SQL Server experience, including stored procedures, T-SQL development and optimization, performance tuning, schema migrations, and data cleanup.
· 5+ years of hands-on Azure experience, including Azure App Services, Azure Functions, deployment pipelines, and configuration management.
· 5+ years of software development experience in Agile environments using Scrum or Kanban.
· 5+ years of experience using Azure DevOps or GitHub within an Agile software delivery environment.
· Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and supporting RESTful APIs relied upon by other systems.
· Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues.
· Strong understanding of full-stack software development and modern application architecture.
· Experience with automated testing, continuous integration, continuous deployment, and release management.
· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical outcomes in a lean engineering environment.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience demonstrating comparable technical expertise.
Preferred Skills
· Experience developing React components within an existing enterprise application.
· Exposure to .NET 10.
· Experience developing reporting and business intelligence solutions using Power BI and/or SSRS.
· Experience working with government, healthcare, public-sector, or other regulated technology environments.
· Understanding of compliance, auditability, data governance, and data sensitivity requirements.
· Familiarity with ADA and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
· Experience integrating Azure Agentic AI services, Copilot capabilities, chatbots, or other AI-driven functionality into production applications.
· Experience with enterprise middleware and integration platforms such as Boomi or MuleSoft.
· Experience working with PII and implementing security controls and protocols for sensitive information.
· Experience with cloud-native architecture and large-scale application modernization initiatives.
· Experience with DevOps automation, infrastructure automation, and modern application delivery practices.
