Staff DevOps Engineer (Remote - US Only)

We are seeking a seasoned Staff DevOps Engineer to help lead the infrastructure strategy behind our suite of SaaS tools focused on modern device and systems management. This high-impact position blends architectural planning, operational excellence, and engineering enablement to ensure smooth, secure, and scalable product delivery across multiple teams and environments.

You’ll serve as a hands-on architect and systems engineer—scaling infrastructure, enhancing developer workflows, automating secure delivery, and guiding platform decisions across the organization.

Note: This is a fully remote opportunity available to candidates located in eligible U.S. states.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Engineering & Scalability

• Design and operate multi-region cloud environments (Google Cloud Platform) with high availability, disaster recovery, and security best practices.
• Collaborate with SREs, DBAs, and engineers to build scalable back-end systems supporting globally distributed services.
• Define systems for future regional data compliance and multi-tenancy, including readiness for frameworks such as GDPR and FedRAMP.
• Optimize infrastructure for cost, performance, and resilience as products grow.

Security & Governance:

• Oversee provisioning pipelines for infrastructure and enforce strict IAM and secret management policies.
• Reduce the impact of errors and misdeployments by hardening the underlying cloud architecture.
• Implement secure coding and deployment standards (SAST, SCA, SBOM, CSPM) alongside information security and compliance stakeholders.

Developer Tooling & Workflow Optimization:

• Drive improvements to local and cloud-based development environments to ensure consistency, speed, and reliability.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that empower engineers to deploy with confidence and speed across environments.
• Enable the use of generative AI tools to boost developer productivity and reduce cognitive overhead.
• Develop and maintain modular infrastructure code (Terraform), automation libraries, and internal documentation.

Monitoring & Observability:

• Implement full-stack observability strategies across services and cloud assets, enabling rapid issue detection and response.
• Support infrastructure cost tracking and optimization with cloud financial management tooling.

Mentorship & Leadership:

• Guide engineering teams with architectural mentorship, code review, and pair programming.
• Promote best practices and technical alignment through documentation, workshops, and internal tech talks.
• Advocate for platform quality and cross-team efficiency improvements in planning and execution.

You Might Be a Great Fit If You Have:

Required Qualifications:

• A decade or more of experience in DevOps or platform engineering, including 3+ years in a technical leadership role within a SaaS environment.
• At least 7 years working directly with Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes in production.
• Demonstrated success optimizing cloud infrastructure for scale and cost in a product-led growth context.
• Experience delivering and operating cloud-native software products from design through deployment and monitoring.
• Comfort working across multiple time zones and collaborating in remote-first teams.
• History of adopting new frameworks, tools, and cloud technologies.
• Familiarity with implementing AI-based tools into engineering workflows.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate complex systems to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Fluency in agile software development practices such as Kanban, Shape Up, or similar methodologies.

Preferred Extras:

• Certifications such as CKA or CKS
• Exposure to or experience with any of the following technologies: Elixir, Phoenix, Rust, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL
• Prior work in organizations managing multiple interrelated products or services
• Understanding of tools or services related to IT operations, endpoint management, or developer platforms
