Job Description:
We Are Seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to provide advanced technical support, administration, and modernization support for enterprise legacy database systems and associated applications. This role will collaborate with technical teams to maintain system stability, support application performance, and ensure reliable database operations across complex environments. The Senior Database Administrator will also contribute to system architecture planning, documentation governance, quality assurance, and ongoing improvements to critical legacy platforms.
Responsibilities:
· Provide senior-level administration and technical support for ADABAS and related Software AG products.
· Collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to support enterprise database environments.
· Analyze user requirements and translate them into technical database designs and enhancements.
· Lead system testing, implementation, and quality assurance activities related to database systems.
· Maintain and support complex legacy information systems and database environments.
· Develop, maintain, and govern system documentation including procedures, policies, and operational standards.
· Provide technical leadership and guidance on database architecture and system design decisions.
· Support data replication, integration tools, and database connectivity solutions.
· Troubleshoot complex system issues across database, middleware, and application environments.
· Support implementation of policy, compliance, and regulatory requirements within system environments.
· Participate in database modernization and performance improvement initiatives.
· Support Linux and UNIX environments related to database and application operations.
· Ensure adherence to SDLC processes, database standards, and operational best practices.
· Mentor junior technical staff and provide knowledge transfer where appropriate.
Required Skills:
· 10+ years of experience working with Software AG products, including ADABAS, Natural, NaturalONE, Predict, Construct, ADABAS Replication, EntireX, CONNX SQL Gateway, ApplinX, and Natural AJAX.
· 10+ years of experience analyzing requirements, designing database solutions, testing, implementing, and performing quality assurance for enterprise information systems.
· Strong experience with mainframe and enterprise technologies including MVS/JCL, COBOL/CICS, VSAM, Linux/zLinux, Informix, and UNIX.
· 3+ years of experience providing architectural guidance and maintaining technical and operational documentation.
· 2+ years of experience supporting systems related to eligibility programs, economic assistance programs, or similar regulated environments.
· Advanced expertise with ADABAS database systems.
· Experience working with relational database systems.
· Experience with CICS, JCL, CA-7 scheduling, and VSAM.
· Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices.
· Strong problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
· Experience with Jira or similar IT service management platforms.
· Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.
· Experience supporting legacy system modernization initiatives.
· Experience supporting regulated program systems or compliance-driven environments.
· Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring team members.
