Steel Buyer

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Steel Buyer to join our team in Middletown, Ohio. This role is a unique opportunity to step into a structured succession plan and be mentored by an experienced Purchasing Manager.

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years of purchasing or manufacturing experience (steel industry strongly preferred)
• Experience with steel grades, material handling, toll processors, or slitting houses
• Proficiency in ERP systems (Plex preferred) and Excel
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and comfort managing commodity-driven purchasing

What You’ll Do

• Purchase raw materials (steel and related materials) for multiple company locations
• Work cross-functionally with shipping, receiving, production, and corporate teams
• Source and negotiate steel products including flat rolled steel, sheet, and structural components
• Monitor commodity markets and manage supplier relationships
• Manage inventory levels and demand forecasting
• Utilize Plex ERP to manage purchasing transactions and material data
• Participate in physical inventory processes and support continuous improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with other purchasing team members across Richmond, Shelby, Corporate, and Middletown locations
