We are a growing tree care and landscaping company seeking a detail-oriented, systems-minded HR Generalist to manage and support the full employee lifecycle.

This role is responsible for ensuring that hiring, onboarding, payroll coordination, benefits administration, compliance, and performance processes are executed accurately and consistently across the organization. The HR Generalist will serve as the operational backbone of Human Resources, helping build structure, maintain compliance, improve processes, and support a positive employee experience.


Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of HR Generalist experience
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws
  • Experience supporting a field-based workforce (landscaping, construction, trades, etc.) preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required
  • PHR certification preferred
  • High attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism
  • Comfortable building structure and processes in a growing environment



Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate recruiting efforts, manage candidate communications, schedule interviews, and prepare offer letters
  • Administer pre-employment processes including background checks, MVR reviews, drug screenings, and I-9 verification
  • Conduct new hire orientation and ensure all onboarding documentation and employee files are complete and audit-ready
  • Set up employees in HR systems and coordinate payroll setup, deductions, and reporting with Accounting
  • Maintain employee records, PTO tracking, and required compliance documentation (I-9, W-4, W-2, FLSA, labor postings)
  • Manage benefits administration including eligibility tracking, enrollments, open enrollment, and benefit terminations
  • Support 401(k) coordination and promote employee awareness of available benefits programs
  • Manage employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, offboarding, performance reviews, compensation updates, and PIP administration
  • Monitor attendance trends, maintain HR policies and employee handbook, and ensure compliance with evolving labor laws
  • Support career path development frameworks and track employee growth milestones in partnership with leadership
  • Maintain OSHA documentation, safety training records, and coordinate workers’ compensation claims
  • Ensure HR documentation remains organized, compliant, and audit-ready
  • Track key HR metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, overtime, and recruiting pipeline performance
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, implement digital tools, and support organizational structure and workforce planning
