This is a senior-responsibility role focused on solving complex engineering problems across mechanical systems, electrical power, controls, fluid power, instrumentation, and automation. If you’re the type of engineer who can step into a live production environment, diagnose issues quickly, and drive solutions from concept through commissioning, we want to talk with you.

Years of experience are less important than capability. If you have exceptional problem-solving ability, learning speed, and ownership mindset, we strongly encourage you to apply.

What You’ll Do

  • Evaluate manufacturing equipment and processes for performance, reliability, quality, and maintainability improvements
  • Design and retrofit mechanical systems and machine assemblies
  • Create and release custom mechanical components and assemblies, including manufacturing-ready drawings
  • Design and integrate drive systems (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic)
  • Select and integrate motors, gearboxes, and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
  • Modify and integrate machine controls (PLC and vendor-specific platforms)
  • Design and integrate pneumatic actuation systems and discrete sensors
  • Specify and integrate instrumentation and process sensors
  • Design and support fluid handling systems, including pumps, controls, and plumbing layout
  • Support installation, commissioning, tuning, and validation in production
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and external vendors on upgrades and installations

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals (understanding of rotating equipment, power transmission, moving assemblies)
  • Strong proficiency in 2D CAD drafting, including creation of clear, manufacturing-ready drawings with appropriate tolerances, notes, and material specifications
  • Hands-on knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motors, and VFDs
  • PLC fundamentals (I/O, interlocks, sequencing) and controls troubleshooting ability
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic/hydraulic systems, pumps, and actuators
  • Ability to integrate mechanical, electrical, controls, and process systems reliably
  • Experience commissioning and validating integrated systems in production
  • Comfortable working with legacy equipment and incomplete documentation (Experience modernizing legacy industrial equipment a plus)
  • Willingness to spend significant time on the plant floor

Why CMP?

  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Bonus opportunities
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Fun company events (fishing tournaments, bowling, Topgolf, paintball, and more)
  • Long-term career stability in a respected, family-owned company
