National Technical Sales Engineer – Hot Work Tooling (H13)

Location: Remote / Nationwide (Midwest preferred) | Travel: 50–70%

Industry: Tool Steel • Die Casting • Forging • Extrusion

About Diehl Tool Steel

Diehl Tool Steel, a Hitachi Metals company based in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a trusted national leader in precision-ground flat stock and specialty tool steels. For over 75 years, we’ve helped manufacturers across North America improve productivity and precision through innovative materials, expert service, and a commitment to engineering excellence.

The Opportunity

We’re expanding our Hot Work Tooling division and looking for a National Technical Sales Engineer (H13) who understands the materials, the applications, and the customers behind them. Whether you’re a metallurgist, tooling engineer, or applications specialist ready to make a bigger impact, this could be your next move.

This role offers autonomy, travel flexibility, and the chance to directly influence a key growth initiative within a respected, technically driven organization.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and manage relationships with OEMs, tool shops, and Tier 1 suppliers
  • Drive new business in die casting, forging, and extrusion sectors
  • Deliver consultative, value-based solutions — not commodity sales
  • Represent Diehl at trade shows (FABTECH, NADCA, PMA) and industry events
  • Partner with global engineering teams to support customer education

What You’ll Bring

  • Deep technical knowledge of Hot Work Tool Steels (H13)
  • Hands-on understanding of tooling, heat treatment, and failure modes
  • Curiosity and comfort engaging with customers, from engineers to executives
  • A consultative mindset and willingness to learn the sales side
  • Strong communication and relationship skills

Bonus points if you’ve worked with Tier 1 suppliers, NADCA, or PMA — or if you’ve ever helped solve a tooling problem that made a customer’s day.

Why Join Us

You’ll join a collaborative, growth-oriented team backed by the innovation and stability of Hitachi Metals. If you’re technically skilled, relationship-focused, and ready to lead the next phase of Diehl’s Hot Work expansion, we’d love to hear from you.
