JOB SUMMARY
Our client is a well-established structural engineering consulting firm seeking a Structural Engineer to join their growing team in the Chicago area. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working on a variety of commercial building projects in a collaborative, hands-on environment. This position is ideal for someone who wants to focus on high-quality engineering work without the expectation of excessive overtime.
Responsibilities:
· Perform structural analysis and design for commercial building projects using steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and other structural systems.
· Design structural components including foundations, slabs, floor systems, columns, walls, and lateral force-resisting systems.
· Prepare engineering calculations and technical documentation.
· Coordinate structural designs with architects, MEP engineers, and other project stakeholders.
· Work closely with CAD and BIM teams to develop construction documents.
· Review shop drawings and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs).
· Conduct site observations and assist with construction administration as needed.
· Participate in project meetings and collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure successful project delivery.
· Manage multiple assignments while maintaining quality, accuracy, and project schedules.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis), or a related engineering discipline.
· 5-15 years of structural engineering experience focused on building design.
· Experience designing commercial buildings is required.
· A Professional Engineer (PE) license is not required for this role.
· Experience with a variety of structural materials including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.
· Proficiency with AutoCAD.
· Experience with structural analysis/design software such as RAM, RISA, TEDDS, ADAPT, or similar.
· Revit Structure experience is a plus.
· Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.
