Senior Advanced Planning Attorney
Apply for this job

What if your advanced planning practice combined autonomy, flexibility, and real firm support—without losing control of your book?

A well-established Atlanta-based law firm is seeking an experienced manager and Advanced Planning Attorney to lead an existing trusts and estates practice serving high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners. Clients view the firm as trusted advisors and partners, not transactional attorneys. Internally, collaboration is encouraged where it benefits the client.

This role is designed for an attorney who already has established themselves in their career, is ready to take that next step, and wants to expand practice offerings by engaging with other attorneys in the firm to support complementary areas of expertise.

The Opportunity

This arrangement combines:

  • Autonomy and flexibility
  • Access to firm resources, infrastructure, and administrative support
  • Leadership of an experienced planning team

Responsibilities

  • Forge and maintain relationships with business partners and clients
  • Oversee attorneys and paralegals to ensure projects are completed properly and timely
  • Draft and implement sophisticated estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney
  • Advise clients on complex tax strategies to minimize estate tax liability and optimize wealth transfer
  • Develop and implement succession plans for family businesses and high-net-worth individuals
  • Coordinate with clients, their advisors, and firm attorneys to deliver seamless solutions
  • Collaborate internally with other practice areas for client benefit

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in trusts & estates and advanced estate planning
  • LLM in Taxation (required)
  • Established, sustainable book of business
  • Expertise in estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxes
  • Ability to work independently while engaging with other attorneys as needed

If any part of this made you pause and think, “That actually sounds different,” it may be worth a short, low-pressure conversation.

If it makes sense to talk, you can grab time here.

No résumé required. No assumptions about timing. Just a conversation to see whether this is worth exploring.
