Rainier Recruiting is partnering with an engineering consultancy who is seeking a skilled and motivated Marine Mechanical Engineer to join its marine engineering team. Location: Seattle, WA or Providence, RI. This position is onsite 3 days a week and work from home 2 days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical systems for marine vessels in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, and best practices.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and design trade-offs to determine optimal solutions for various shipboard systems.
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations related to propulsion, HVAC, auxiliary, and other onboard mechanical systems.
  • Develop and review engineering drawings, system schematics, technical specifications, and documentation for regulatory and cost estimation purposes.
  • Lead small-to-mid-size engineering teams, manage project scope and schedules, assign tasks, and prepare technical proposals.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components into overall vessel designs.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, technological advancements, and emerging standards to enhance design processes.
  • Provide mentorship and technical support to junior staff and project team members.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in maritime or consulting engineering environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, mechanical engineering, naval architecture, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or the ability to obtain one within the first year of employment.
  • Proficiency in CAD and modeling tools such as AutoCAD, Rhino3D, and SolidWorks, as well as Microsoft Office software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, technical report writing ability, and effective teamwork and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory bodies and standards, such as ABS Rules and CFR Title 46.
  • Authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have unrestricted work eligibility or qualify for a TN visa.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel for site visits, client meetings, and fieldwork.
  • Valid driver’s license, passport, and/or TWIC card may be required for certain assignments.
