Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $150,000 (negotiable)
  • Variable Compensation / Bonus: $10K–$15K quarterly
  • On-Target Earnings (OTE): $160K–$200K

Location & Travel

  • Remote role: Open to candidates based anywhere in the Western U.S. (California might be limiting)
  • Travel Required: ~30% overnight travel across the Western U.S., Western Canada, and Mexico

What You'll Do

As the Western Regional Sales Manager, you’ll lead business development, strategy, and sales execution for a dynamic and under-penetrated region. You'll work independently while collaborating closely with internal engineering, product, and executive teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and grow a territory that includes Western U.S., Western Canada, and Mexico.
  • Drive new design wins in avionics electronics.
  • Manage both direct sales and independent sales rep networks in the Mil/Aero sector.
  • Lead strategic sales planning and forecasting to support growth targets.
  • Develop and execute a territory-specific plan targeting major accounts and OEMs.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and executives on custom solutions and design wins.
  • Work deals across a wide sales cycle—from 3 months to 2+ years.
  • Leverage your experience and relationships in embedded computing, defense electronics, or databus technologies.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of technical B2B sales experience—ideally in avionics, embedded systems, or rugged computing.
  • Strong technical aptitude or previous hands-on engineering/sales engineering experience.
  • Proven success working with both direct customers and manufacturer rep firms.
  • Background in selling into Mil/Aero, especially into Air Force or DoD contracts, is a major plus.
  • Able to open new doors, manage complex technical sales cycles, and close deals effectively.
  • Familiarity with terms like PCB, databus, PCI express, embedded computing, Ethernet switch, etc.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field preferred.

Ideal Candidate Background

  • Former field sales engineers or application engineers turned business developers.
  • Experience working at companies like: Curtiss-Wright, Abaco, DDC, Astronics Ballard, Mercury, Systel, Trenton, Kontron, or Extreme Engineering.
  • Experience with test & simulation equipment, embedded SBCs, or ruggedized hardware.
  • A mix of hunter (70-80%) and farmer (20-30%) mentality.
