Why This Opportunity Stands Out

Join a long-established, global manufacturing services provider that helps U.S. companies expand operations into Mexico through turnkey nearshore solutions. With decades of operational success and a large-scale footprint, this organization is entering a new growth phase and investing heavily in revenue generation.

This is a high-impact, externally facing role with strong earning potential, executive visibility, and the opportunity to build a regional market from the ground up.

About the Role

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive new client acquisition across the Midwest region:

  • Illinois (Chicago area)
  • Michigan

  • Indiana

This role is focused on identifying and closing new manufacturing partnerships with companies exploring nearshoring or cross-border expansion strategies.

  • Build and manage a pipeline of qualified opportunities through proactive outreach and networking
  • Engage executive-level stakeholders (VP Manufacturing, VP Operations, Engineering leadership, ownership groups)
  • Navigate and manage complex sales cycles (typically 12–18 months)
  • Represent the organization at industry trade shows, conferences, and client meetings
  • Deliver a consistent cadence of new opportunities and advance deals through to close
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to structure solutions aligned with client manufacturing needs

Target Client Profile

You will focus on mid-market to enterprise manufacturers across industries such as:

  • Automotive & automotive electronics
  • Aerospace & aerospace electronics
  • Electronics manufacturing
  • Medical devices
  • Metal processing & machining
  • Textiles and packaging

Typical engagements range from smaller pilot programs (~25 employees) to large-scale expansions (500–1,000+ employees).

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (fluency required; interviews may be conducted in Spanish)
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or procurement within manufacturing or industrial sectors
  • Proven track record of generating net-new business (hunter mentality)
  • Experience selling to senior manufacturing or operations leaders
  • Strong CRM discipline and pipeline management skills
  • Ability to operate independently in a regional, field-based role

Preferred

  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or electronics manufacturing
  • Exposure to nearshoring, cross-border operations, or contract manufacturing models
  • Familiarity with complex, solution-based sales environments
  • Background in adjacent industries such as engineering services, industrial real estate, or economic development

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $90,000 – $100,000
  • Uncapped commission tied to project wins
  • Year 1 on-target earnings: $110,000+ (with significant upside on large deals)
  • Full benefits package (W2 employee)

Location & Travel

  • Based in the Midwest (Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana preferred)
  • Strong candidates in New England will also be considered
  • Regular travel required, including trips to Mexico and industry events

Who Will Thrive Here

  • True hunters who enjoy building pipeline from scratch
  • Professionals comfortable with long, strategic sales cycles
  • Individuals who understand manufacturing operations and can speak credibly with technical stakeholders
  • Self-starters who take initiative and drive results independently

Why Join

  • Established, profitable organization with a long track record of success
