Rainier Recruiting is partnering with a a private equity backed marine electrical services company who is seeking an experienced leader to manage and coordinate multiple electrical projects from planning through completion. This position involves aligning field operations with organizational goals, overseeing project schedules and budgets, and providing direction to Electrician Leads and support staff. The ideal candidate has a strong background as a Marine Electrician Lead, with extensive hands-on experience completing complex marine electrical projects. This foundation is essential for managing field teams effectively and ensuring technical excellence across all ongoing and future projects. Compensation: $100,000-130,000 base salary plus 10% bonus (negotiable).

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee multiple electrical projects simultaneously
  • Estimate labor, materials, and costs for upcoming jobs
  • Assign work and provide direction to Electrician Leads and field teams
  • Ensure quality, safety, and compliance with industry standards and OSHA regulations
  • Communicate with field teams, project stakeholders, and executive leadership
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and performance metrics (KPI/ROI)
  • Support resource planning and allocation across active projects
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation upon completion
  • Mentor and train field staff, fostering a culture of learning and craftsmanship
  • Provide hands-on assistance in the field when needed to meet deadlines or resolve technical challenges

Example Projects

Projects may include:

  • Vessel shore power and alternative marine power installations
  • Mobile crane electrical supply systems
  • Hydraulic and communication system integration
  • Terminal power and gate control systems
  • Custom switchboard and control panel builds (e.g., elevator controls, gangway controllers, pump controllers)

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience installing, maintaining, and operating electrical systems aboard commercial vessels (e.g., tugboats, barges, container ships, catcher-processors)
  • Prior shipyard experience and familiarity with marine electrical safety standards
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of electrical theory and marine systems
  • Ability to interpret schematics and circuit diagrams
  • Skilled with 480VAC 3-phase distribution systems (grounded and ungrounded)
  • Experience designing, building, and troubleshooting motor controllers
  • Familiarity with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and Soft Starters
  • Proven leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple teams and priorities
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work hands-on when necessary

  • Standard workday begins at 7:00 AM at company headquarters

An experienced Marine Electrician Lead is sought to manage and actively participate in a range of electrical projects involving marine vessels and floating structures—including cargo ships, fishing vessels, barges, and tugboats. This individual will serve as the Electrician Lead of Record (EoR), overseeing projects from initial request for quotation (RFQ) through final installation, testing, and compliance. The role requires strong technical expertise, project ownership, and the ability to deliver results under tight deadlines while meeting client requirements and industry standards.
