Compensation: $49.37/hour plus overtime ( up to 10 hours of overtime weekly is available)

Location: 100% onsite in Melbourne, FL.

Positions are 6 month contract-to-hire opportunities with high possibility to convert to FTE.

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of professionals, specialists, and engineers, you will lead efforts to manage and direct suppliers and teammates to support the external development of various spaceflight systems. You will interact with our customers, the Programs, to address concerns and ensure development efforts and deliveries are on track.

Schedule: Onsite, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (some flexibility available)

About the Role

We’re seeking a motivated Buyer II to support procurement operations for complex mechanical, fluid, and machined components. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that production and engineering teams have the materials and parts they need—on time, within budget, and to exact specifications.

You’ll work closely with suppliers, engineers, and cross-functional partners to manage the sourcing, purchasing, and delivery of specialized components used in advanced systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier relationships and coordinate procurement activities for machined parts, valves, hoses, fluids, and other technical materials.
  • Prepare and issue RFQs/RFPs, perform price analysis, and develop negotiation strategies to achieve optimal cost and quality outcomes.
  • Lead the sourcing process from requisition through invoice payment, ensuring smooth communication and timely resolution of issues.
  • Negotiate and administer contracts, including long-term agreements and strategic supplier partnerships.
  • Support planning and scheduling to ensure material deliveries align with production timelines.
  • Partner with engineering and quality teams to review specifications and technical drawings when sourcing specialized parts.
  • Track supplier performance, monitor key metrics, and support continuous improvement initiatives within procurement.
  • Contribute to the organization’s overall sourcing strategy and compliance with procurement policies.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management.
  • Experience with sourcing and supplier negotiation for technical or engineered components is desired but not required.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with contract types such as Firm Fixed Price (FFP), Time & Materials (T&M), and Cost-Plus structures is helpful.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and AS9100 standards preferred but not required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, defense, manufacturing, or advanced hardware industries.
  • Exposure to ITAR/EAR regulations or experience with export-controlled materials.
  • Experience with procurement or ERP tools such as Deltek Costpoint, Jira, or SharePoint.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, or PMP.
  • Background in fluids systems, avionics, or other precision hardware procurement.
