The Role:
A hands-on, high-ownership Accounting Manager to run end-to-end accounting in a fast-growing social games business. This role blends day-to-day execution (close, reconciliations, AR/AP, payroll, sales/use tax) with strategic oversight (budgeting, cash forecasting, inventory/COGS, SKU/channel profitability). The Accounting Manager will help transition processes in-house, improve systems, and partner across Demand Planning, Supply Chain, Sales, and Leadership.
What You’ll Do:
Financial Reporting & Accounting (≈45%)
- Serve as primary QuickBooks Online admin; maintain clean GL, COA integrity, policies/procedures.
- Own monthly close: JEs, accruals, reconciliations, variance analysis; deliver P&L, BS, CF.
- Oversee AP via Bill.com (vendor setup/coding/approvals) and AR (billing, cash apps, deductions, collections).
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and balance-sheet accounts on schedule.
- Administer systems/integrations (QBO, Bill.com, Cin7/ERP); lead clean-ups/improvements.
- Partner with Supply Chain on inventory accounting, landed cost, COGS, and SKU-level profitability.
Payroll & Tax Compliance (≈25%)
- Process biweekly payroll (20+ employees); ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors on quarterly/annual filings.
- Manage sales/use tax (nexus, registrations, filings), plus Canada GST and UK VAT.
- File annual 1099s; audit employee expenses; own international tax workflows with advisors.
Budgeting, Cash Flow & Analysis (≈20%)
- Drive the annual budget; consolidate inputs from Sales and Demand Planning.
- Maintain/improve cash forecasts, working-capital monitoring, and scenario planning.
- Support modeling for new products/channels; provide monthly BvA with recommendations.
Administration & Cross-Functional Support (≈10%)
- Keep audit-ready digital files; coordinate external auditors/consultants.
- Collaborate with Sales, Supply Chain, Marketing, and HR to ensure financial accuracy.
- Identify and implement process/controls improvements; serve as the org’s accounting resource.
What You Bring:
Essential:
- 5+ years hands-on accounting (full-cycle bookkeeping, A/R, A/P, payroll).
- Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance (or related).
- Strong QBO proficiency; proven monthly close, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Inventory/COGS experience in a product business; excellent communication; detail and deadline discipline; independent and collaborative.
Preferred:
- Background in consumer goods/retail/DTC.
- Familiarity with Amazon/Shopify accounting flows.
- Experience with Cin7 (or similar ERP) and expense tools (e.g., Expensify).
- Track record transitioning functions from outsourced to in-house.
- Budgeting/forecasting/analysis experience; audit/tax support exposure.

- Majority of accounting operations transitioned in-house within 90 days.
- Documented, scalable processes and controls.
- Month-end close within 7–10 business days with accurate reconciliations.
- Clear, actionable financial reporting for leadership.
- Clean A/R aging and strong vendor relationships.
- Ongoing compliance across payroll and taxes.
- Data-driven insights that inform product, channel, and growth decisions.
Schedule: Full-time; hybrid with in-office Tuesday & Thursday in Solana Beach, CA.
