Position Overview


A rapidly scaling, multi-state organization is seeking a Senior Director of IT to lead enterprise technology operations, infrastructure, and strategy for a distributed workforce of 1,500+ employees and 2,000+ active devices. This role ensures operational excellence in day-to-day support while driving long-term technology modernization, with a heavy focus on infrastructure, device management, and core applications.


The Senior Director will oversee internal and/or outsourced resources across helpdesk, server management, networking, and multi-site IT readiness. This is a high-visibility role reporting to the senior technology leadership team.


Key Responsibilities:


Infrastructure, Networking & Facilities IT


  • Oversee IT infrastructure across physical locations, including broadband capacity, Wi-Fi reliability, and access controls.
  • Conduct routine performance and capacity assessments; manage national vendors with strong SLAs for reliability, scalability, and response time.


Helpdesk & Support Operations


  • Lead the IT helpdesk and support ecosystem, ensuring consistent service quality for a large, distributed field organization.
  • Build scalable support processes across remote and in-center environments.


Identity, Security & Collaboration


  • Architect and implement a modern SSO environment using Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Oversee SCIM integrations and automated lifecycle management tied to HRIS platforms.
  • Standardize authentication, MFA, and provisioning workflows across 12+ systems.
  • Ensure cybersecurity policies align with regulatory and compliance requirements.


Growth & Expansion Support


  • Plan and implement IT support for multi-site and multi-state expansion, including infrastructure readiness and vendor scalability.
  • Partner with telecom and telephony providers to ensure reliable network and voice capabilities.


Device & Cloud Management


  • Lead device lifecycle management for thousands of tablets, laptops, and mobile devices, ensuring seamless onboarding/offboarding.
  • Oversee AWS server and cloud environments, including monitoring and cost optimization.


ITSM, Governance & Strategic Roadmapping


  • Implement ITSM and project management systems that drive visibility, throughput, and execution discipline.
  • Define the IT vision and roadmap aligned with organizational priorities, partnering closely with Finance, HR, Operations, and Compliance.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on systems integration, cybersecurity, and infrastructure modernization.


Required Qualifications


  • 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including 5+ years leading teams.
  • Expertise with enterprise-scale Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Strong background in networking, AWS, and device lifecycle management.
  • Experience supporting multi-site infrastructure (wiring, broadband, access systems).
  • Proficiency with project/portfolio management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Smartsheet).
  • Experience managing MSPs and outsourced resources.
  • Familiarity with telecom carriers and enterprise telephony platforms.
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity, compliance, and risk frameworks (HIPAA experience strongly preferred but not required).
  • Proven success building and leading IT functions in distributed organizations.
  • Strong stakeholder communication and vendor management capabilities.
  • Experience with agentic AI solutions is a plus.


Technical Competencies


  • Expert: Microsoft 365, networking fundamentals, device lifecycle management
  • Advanced: AWS administration (configuration, monitoring, cost optimization), vendor management
  • Working Knowledge: ITSM tools, mobile carrier platforms
  • Strong strategic thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and executive communication skills


Additional Expectations & Work Environment


  • Primarily remote with 1 on-site day per week; periodic travel to additional centers as needed.
  • Must work Pacific Time Zone hours.
